Observations from the 139th Canton Fair: A US Buyer’s Discoveries

By Karen, Buyer from California, USA

I attend several international trade shows every year and the Canton Fair is a must-see. This year marks the 139th session from April 15th to May 5th in Pazhou Guangzhou. This time some things stood out and are worth noting. Not just empty words but real products and trends I saw and found useful.

2026 Canton Fair

A Product Worth Noting: Exoskeleton Robot Supplier

On the first day of the fair a scene in the service robot zone attracted a large crowd.

A woman in an electric wheelchair waited in line for half an hour at one booth. I later learned that she was from Argentina and could no longer walk normally due to a physical condition. She was trying on a lumbar assistive exoskeleton device.

After putting it on she stood up and even took a few steps. Her companions around her burst into tears.

Frankly I have been in this industry for over a decade and have seen all sorts of cutting edge technology demonstrations but that moment still moved me. It wasnt the emotional atmosphere that made me realize this thing is genuinely usable and there are real people waiting for it.

I later asked the staff of this exoskeleton robot supplier Hangzhou Taixi Intelligent. Here are a few key points.

Working Principle: The device uses multiple sensors to capture micro movements of the human body determines your intended movement and then the motor precisely assists. It doesnt drag you along. It senses your intention and helps you save effort.

Application Scenarios: Besides assisting people with mobility impairments it is also suitable for outdoor walking climbing stairs hiking and other scenarios where leg strain needs to be reduced. Several American clients immediately came to mind including veterans rehabilitation facilities elderly care centers and outdoor gear brands.

Price: The product showcased is a new product launching in the third quarter with a pre sale price of 1200 USD. That is approximately 8000 RMB. This price is an order of magnitude lower than I expected.

Market Feedback: According to staff searches for related products increased by nearly 300 percent after the video went viral with daily sales exceeding 100 units in the live stream and inventory already tight.

For buyers this information is very valuable. A product that has moved from laboratory to mass production with prices reaching consumer levels and driven by genuine demand. I will add this exoskeleton robot supplier to my follow up list.

Robotics Equipment

Drone Zone: 24 Canton Fair Drone Manufacturers

This years Canton Fair established a dedicated zone for consumer grade drones and agricultural drones for the first time with 24 Canton Fair drone manufacturers participating. This area had one of the highest foot traffic counts in the entire fair.

A Model Worth Noting: H15 Electric Unmanned Helicopter

From Haichuang Zhikong. Specifications include 15kg single rotor maximum payload 6kg 60 minute flight time withstands Force 6 winds and service ceiling 4000 meters. Applications cover logistics transportation emergency rescue and inspection mapping.

The key is that this company offers on demand customization. It can quickly adapt to the differentiated needs of different countries and personalized scenarios of different industries. On the first day of the event they received buyers from more than 30 countries and regions with over 50 potential clients. One Middle Eastern buyer after watching the load demonstration and wind resistance test immediately signed an order for three sample units and even offered to become the regional general agent.

Another Highlight: Ultralight Manned eVTOL Wholesale Price

Guangdong Yesheng Aviation showcased an ultralight manned electric vertical takeoff and landing eVTOL aircraft. Key points are as follows.

Price: 400000 RMB which is approximately 55000 USD. This eVTOL wholesale price is notably competitive.

Endurance: 25 minutes with cruising speed of 60 km per hour.

Payload: Maximum 100 kg.

Regulatory Requirements: Complies with Chinese CCAR-91 and US FAA Part 103 ultralight aircraft regulations. No airworthiness certificate or pilots license is required for most recreational scenarios.

Within three hours of opening they received fifty to sixty potential orders mainly from Russia the Middle East and Southeast Asia. A Sudanese buyers words struck me. In many mining areas in Africa road infrastructure is severely lacking and these aircraft can efficiently transport personnel and conduct exploration operations making them an excellent choice.

As a buyer I see that the low altitude economy is moving from concept to practical application and the supply chain has reduced costs to a commercially viable level. This is a smart hardware sourcing category worth studying in depth.

Trader Procurement

A Trend: The Procurement Logic is Changing

At this years Canton Fair I noticed a change in the content of conversations among buyers.

In the past people talked about how much does this cost and what is the MOQ. Now they talk about can you provide solutions do you have local deployment capabilities and how will after sales support be covered.

Data also confirms this observation. More than one third of exhibitors at this years fair are shifting from exporting products to exporting products plus services. 78 percent of buyers are accustomed to screening suppliers in advance using digital tools and their procurement needs are becoming more precise and pragmatic.

An ODM company I contacted Shanghai Liulian Intelligent is a typical example. They have moved beyond simple hardware manufacturing and now offer full stack AI solutions. Their products range from Mini PCs to industrial grade high performance workstations supporting local deployment of large models. They have also developed their own intelligent agent management platform allowing customized functionality based on business scenarios.

In other words they are not selling hardware but ready to use solutions. This translates to lower barriers to entry and faster time to market for buyers.

Some Available Data

If you are also following the Canton Fair these figures might be helpful.

Scale: This years fair features 75700 booths and over 32000 participating companies with approximately 3900 making their debut.

Buyers: As of the pre fair date over 210000 overseas buyers pre registered which is a 20 percent year on year increase. 290 leading global buying companies confirmed their participation.

New Product Ratio: Over 4.65 million exhibits were on display with new products accounting for 23 percent green products for 22 percent and products with independent intellectual property rights for 25 percent.

First Phase Attendance: 167000 buyers from 216 countries and regions attended with significant growth in US buyers.

Summary

After attending the first phase here are my impressions.

First the products are indeed upgrading. Exoskeleton robots have moved from the laboratory to the Canton Fair exhibition hall. Drones have expanded from aerial photography tools to multiple scenarios including logistics agriculture and passenger transport with prices continuously decreasing. This means more product selection options and faster market opportunities for buyers.

Second the role of suppliers is changing. More and more companies are no longer just taking orders and producing but providing solutions services and long term support. If you are looking for supply chain partners for deep collaboration the consumer electronics trade show landscape including Canton Fair is now worth your time.

Third professionalism is improving. This year professional buyers accounted for over 70 percent of pre registered buyers for the first time. This means you are no longer encountering people who are just browsing around but rather peers with real purchasing decision making power. The quality of communication is improving.

I will add several suppliers I saw this time including exoskeleton robots drones and AI solutions to my follow up list. If you are also looking for these categories the above information is for your reference.
